CIF-SS Tennis Championship Victory

As for my first year on varsity, it was an overall fun and exciting experience.

I felt as though I bonded nicely with the team, and was thrilled with my first opportunity to play consistent high-level tennis with superior players my age who help me improve my game.

This past weekend, we traveled to Claremont for the CIF-Southern Section finals and won the Division I title for Harvard-Westlake for the first time in 12 years. The entire team–myself included–is stoked on receiving our impeding rings. It was a supremely tight and anxious match, coming from behind to tie the first round 3-3, then slightly dashing ahead in the second round 7-5, then clinching an all-or-nothing 1-set victory by our top singles player Adam to finish it up at 10-8. Unfortunately I was injured during the finals, but I still enjoyed myself cheering on my team and very much participated in the team’s spirit.

Storming the court and pouring a cooler of ice-cold lime Gatorade on our coach’s head was one of the most gratifying feelings of the year for me. We’re playing for a State title this upcoming weekend.
